  • Service Not Aligned with Plan Goals: The service billed may not be clearly linked to the goals outlined in your NDIS plan. All services must be ‘reasonable and necessary’ and contribute to your plan objectives.

  • Insufficient Funds: Your NDIS plan budget for a particular support category might have been exhausted or you might have already reached the total spend amount for your funding period, leading to the rejection of subsequent invoices. 

  • Incorrect Support Category: The service might have been billed under the wrong support category. NDIS plans have specific categories for different types of support.

  • Missing or Incomplete Information: Invoices often require specific details, such as the date of service, description of service, unit cost, and provider ABN. Missing any of these can lead to rejection.

  • Provider Not Registered (for Agency-Managed Funds): If your plan (or parts of your plan) is agency-managed, your provider must be NDIS-registered. If they are not, their invoices cannot be processed.

  • Duplicate Invoice: Sometimes, an invoice might be submitted twice in error OR the invoice number and amount may be the same (even though it is a new invoiced amount).

  • Exceeding NDIS Price Guide Limits: The cost of the service might exceed the maximum prices set out in the NDIS Price Guide for that particular support item.  A Plan Manager cannot pay more than the NDIS price for a service.
