NDIS Plan Management Built Around Queensland Life

Queensland stretches across nearly two million square kilometres. That means NDIS participants here face challenges that are entirely different to those in other states. Long distances between appointments, fewer providers in regional areas, and the added complexity of managing plans across multiple funding categories.

Plan Hero understands Queensland. We have supported participants from Brisbane’s outer suburbs to the Torres Strait, and we know that good plan management means being flexible, responsive and genuinely available when things do not go to plan.

We take the financial administration of your NDIS plan off your hands completely. That means paying your providers quickly, keeping your budget categories accurate, and being the first call you make when something changes.

Providers Paid Without the Wait

We process invoices quickly so your support workers, therapists and allied health providers are paid on time.

What Does an NDIS Plan Manager Actually Do for Queensland Participants?

Plan management is a funded support category in your NDIS plan. It sits within Capacity Building and is budgeted separately, so adding it does not take anything away from your Core or Capital support budgets.

Here is what your plan manager handles on your behalf:

Plan management is fully funded by the NDIS. There is no extra cost to you and it does not reduce any other part of your plan budget. Find out more about NDIS plan management.

  • Receiving invoices directly from your registered and non-registered providers
  • Checking that each invoice is correctly coded to the right support category
  • Submitting claims to the NDIS portal and releasing payment to providers
  • Maintaining accurate records of every transaction against your plan budget
  • Alerting you when a budget category is running low before it becomes a problem
  • Helping you understand what supports are reasonable and necessary under your goals
  • Providing monthly statements and real-time budget reports you can actually read
  • Supporting you when your plan is reviewed or when you need to request a change

Is Plan Management the Right Choice for Your Queensland NDIS Plan?

Plan management suits most Queensland participants, especially those who want flexibility in choosing providers but do not want to take on the administration of self-management. It works particularly well for:

Families

Coordinating Multiple Providers

When your child has speech therapy, occupational therapy, a support worker and a hydrotherapy session all in the same week, managing four separate invoices and funding categories adds up fast. We handle all of it.

Regional QLD

Participants Outside Major Cities

In areas where registered providers are limited, plan management lets you use non-registered local providers and community businesses who may not be NDIS registered but still deliver quality supports.

New Participants

Still Learning How Your Plan Works

If you are new to the NDIS, having a plan manager means you have someone experienced explaining the funding rules, the NDIS price guide and what you can and cannot claim under each category.

Find NDIS Prices in Queensland

NDIS support prices in Queensland follow the national NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. However, where you live in Queensland can affect what providers are available and what rates they charge. In some remote and very remote areas, providers can claim a higher rate to cover travel and service delivery costs.

As a plan-managed participant, you can also negotiate rates below the price guide with non-registered providers, giving you more room to stretch your budget and access more supports.

Use our NDIS price finder to search support categories, check current rates and plan your supports before your invoices arrive.

Core Supports

Daily activities, community participation, transport and consumables. The most flexible funding category for most Queensland participants.

Capacity Building

Therapies, support coordination, employment supports and plan management. Helps you build skills and independence over time.

FAQs (frequently asked questions)

These are two different roles. A plan manager handles the financial side of your NDIS plan: receiving invoices, making payments and tracking your budget. A support coordinator helps you find and connect with providers, build your support network and navigate the NDIS system. Some participants have both. They are funded from different budget categories and do not overlap in their responsibilities.  Learn more about NDIS plan management.

Yes. Plan management is delivered remotely and you do not need a local plan manager in your town or city. Plan Hero supports participants across all of Queensland, including remote communities in Cape York, the Gulf Country and outback Queensland. We communicate by phone, email and through our online portal and phone app, so geography is never a barrier.

We aim to pay valid invoices within 2 to 3 business days of receipt. The NDIS Participant Service Guarantee requires plan managers to pay within 5 business days. Fast payment keeps your support workers, therapists and other providers happy and makes it easier to maintain a reliable support team around you.

Yes. This is one of the most practical benefits of plan management, especially for participants in regional and rural Queensland where registered providers may be limited. With a plan manager, you can work with non-registered providers as long as the support is consistent with your NDIS goals and meets the scheme’s guidelines. Your plan manager helps you check this before the invoice is submitted.

You can change plan managers at any time without it affecting your NDIS plan or your supports. Contact Plan Hero, sign a service agreement, and we handle everything else including notifying the NDIS and your outgoing plan manager. The transition usually takes 2 to 3 business days and there is no gap in invoice payments. Read our step-by-step guide to changing plan managers.

No. Plan management is a funded support category in your NDIS plan, budgeted separately under Capacity Building. The NDIS pays Plan Hero directly from that funding line. There is no out-of-pocket cost to you and it does not reduce any other part of your plan budget.

NDIS pricing is set nationally through the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, updated annually. Queensland participants in remote and very remote areas may have access to providers who charge higher rates due to travel and service delivery costs. As a plan-managed participant, you can also negotiate rates below the price guide. Read about the latest NDIS pricing review for 2026-27 or use our price finder tool.

Yes, when you are plan-managed. NDIS pricing sets maximum rates for registered providers but you are free to negotiate lower rates with any provider. Non-registered providers can also charge below the price guide. In areas of Queensland where provider competition is high, such as Brisbane and the Gold Coast, this can help stretch your plan further. Your plan manager can help you understand what is reasonable in your area.
